Weekly Investing Report 02/08/10

February 8th, 2010 | No Comments | Filed in Investing

So far this year I have nothing to show for, the market seems to be lost and unable to make a decision and I don’t like it. As a result of that my account was down $30.50 for the week. That may not seem like much but just like everybody else I would rather make a buck than lose thirty.

I had no trades last week.

My investments, 50 Dow Chemical Co (DOW) shares, 100 Allied Irish Banks PLC (AIB) shares, 400 Citigroup (C) shares, 500 Fannie Mae (FNM) shares and 2500 First National Bancshares Inc (FNSC).

Total Money Balance $      61.31
Investment Value $5,830.00
Total Account Value $5,891.31

If you have been a follower of this blog then you know that my first year investing I lost over 2 thousand dollars but when it came tax time I didn’t deduct any of it because I knew that I could use those losses to offset future gains that I would hope would come in ‘09. Well, last year I made money, $1,481.39 to be exact and this time that is going to have to be on my taxes because Uncle Sam no doubt will want a piece of my small pie and that is fine. Now, I am not really sure if I can use the exact amount and that is why I can’t wait to go see my tax preparer this year, stay tuned.

New month and hopefully it will be a lot better than last. The last week of January wasn’t that good for in general but somehow my account managed a small gain. My account was up $42 big ones and hopefully things will pick up this week because I need a new leg and the bionic one that I like is quite expensive =(.

I finally went to the bank to cash my last three paychecks because I had been too lazy to do it before. Two of them were from December and one from this January. I come back home and then do my thing allocating money for this that and the other and when I am finished with that I am left with $402 dollars.

I know that the money left is from the second half of December when I was on Christmas break and didn’t spend that much on anything and from this year when I have been out of work sick for most of the month and again have not spent that much either so I knew that I would have some money left just not how much.

The question then became, what to do with it. Buy new shoes, a new computer, a new phone, a new leg or a bionic disc if that is indeed what is ailing me. After thinking about it not that long or hard I decided to put 75% of that in the bank and 25% will go to help pay for my debt, there problem solved.
