403-B/DCP

May 30th, 2008 | No Comments | Filed in 403b

The month of May is almost over but not before I write this month’s last 403-B/DCP report. I am closing in on the $2,000 dollar mark and by the time the next report comes your way that should be the case. I didn’t lose money and that is always good but instead had a tiny profit as you can see by the report. Again my DCP was up more than my 403-B, will it happen again?. Don’t forget to check the next report to find the answer. Lets check them numbers.

Keepers

May 28th, 2008 | No Comments | Filed in Investing

Ever since I started investing I knew that there were going to be some good stocks and some not so good ones. Today I am going to tell you about the ones I think are keepers. I own shares in five different companies and so far for me there are only two that deserve to be on this post.

The number one keeper is Visa (V), the main reason I started to invest. I wanted to get some Visa shares when the IPO was first announced and because of that I had to open a brokerage account and as you know I did. I got 8 shares of Visa on 3/19/08 for $59.50 each, the current price as I write this is $78.74 which is excellent.

The second keeper is Marvel Entertainment (MVL). When I became aware that Marvel was planning to finance its own movies I knew I wanted to get some marvel shares. Iron Man is a hit and now we have to wait and see how The Incredible Hulk movie will fare next month. I got 10 shares of marvel on 4/17/08 for $28.00 each, the current price per share as I write this is $33.65 which is good.

I think the number one reason why these two are keepers is obvious. Of my other three there are two that have performed badly and one that is just above water but just barely. At some point I am going to have to decide what to do with them and when I reached that point I will let you know.

Weekly Investing Report 5/26/08

May 26th, 2008 | No Comments | Filed in Investing

Last week was a very bad one for my investments. Once you take a look at the graph below you will understand why. For a second there I thought that I was on Goliath (a roller coaster up in Six Flags) ready for that first drop. My account was down a whooping $93.26 for the week and that is a lot. If you remember in last week’s report I mentioned something about being a betting man, well I am keeping my mouth shut this time and see how things go.

Scottrade Account (8)

I had no new trades last week.

My investments look like this now,  8 Visa (V) shares, 10 Bear Stearns (BSC) shares, 10 Ford (F) shares, 10 Marvel (MVL) shares and 20 Countrywide (CFC) shares.

I start this week with a total account value of $1,203.11

$600 To Invest

May 23rd, 2008 | No Comments | Filed in Investing

There seems to be a cloud over my head and it’s not raining water but money, ok maybe not that much money but you get the picture. Last Saturday I got a letter from uncle Sam letting me know that I was supposed to get a $600 dollar stimulus check soon. On Tuesday of this week I got it and quickly deposited in the bank that way it will work for me(part time mind you) earning a little more than nothing % interest. The question then becomes, what to do with it?. At the moment I am not going to do anything with it so the the wisest decision right now is to to save it for a rainy day. What are you going to to do with your stimulus check?.

Got My New Credit Card

May 21st, 2008 | No Comments | Filed in Personal Debt

It finally arrived, about a week ago if I remember correctly. Yes I have my new Bank of America Accelerated Rewards American Express Card ( that is a long name) in my hands and I already used it and I am happy to announce that so far I have earned 52 big points. This card is going to be my main card from now on. I am also going to use this card for my MSN account and my cell phone that way I will get me some more points every month, am I smart or what?. I still want a regular American Express card but first I am going to have to become a millionaire (and I will be), stay tuned.
