Weekly Investing Report 6/30/08

June 30th, 2008 | No Comments | Filed in Investing

The market is being held hostage by oil and I don’t like it one bit because it is messing with my investments. Every time that oil goes up the market goes down and I am tired of it. There is nothing much I can do about it but hope that things will get better. My account was down $31.18 for the week, hopefully this week will be better than last.

Scottrade Account (13)

I had no new trades last week.

My investments look like this now,  2 JPMorgan (JPM) shares, 8 Visa (V) shares, 10 Ford (F) shares, 10 Marvel (MVL) shares and 20 Countrywide (CFC) shares.

I start this week with a total account value of $1,327.32

403-B/DCP

The end of June and that means that we the last 403-B report of the month is here. The story goes like this, account goes up, account goes down and that is fine as long as there is a big lapse between those two cycles. What cycle are we in at the moment?, I sure don’t know because not too long ago we were heading in the right direction. Patience, you have to have a lot of patience and believe me, I do. But enough of that, on to the numbers we go.

Just Above Water

June 25th, 2008 | No Comments | Filed in Investing

In recent posts I wrote about my stocks and which of them are Keepers and Goners. Today let me tell you about the one stock that is just above water, it was just above water when I wrote the first post but as of today it is slowly sinking.

I am talking about Ford (F). I originally bought 10 shares of Ford at $5.95 on 3/31/08 plus the $7 dollars for the trade. It then went up and reached a bit over $8 dollars and then it started to head back down again, as I write this post the price is $5.32 per share. I like Ford and I hope it doesn’t turn into a “Goner” so I am going to give it the benefit of the doubt for now.

Another day another dollar or so the saying goes but anyway. You may notice that my account was up but it was up because I transferred $100 dollars into it. The main reason for that is so that I have some money available just in case I need it which could be real soon. I have my eye on a stock but it has to reach $12 dollars before I can buy it. The current price is $12.62, so I am going to have to wait and see what happens. For the week I was down $21.72 and you know that I didn’t like that one bit and I am sure you are the same but what are we to do. Hopefully this week will be a lot better than last.

Goners

June 20th, 2008 | No Comments | Filed in Investing

About a month ago I wrote a post about the stocks that I consider “keepers” based on how profitable they have been for me so far. Well this post is about the ones that are going to be “goners” as soon as they reach a threshold that I’ve set.

The number one goner right now is JPMorgan (JPM) for one simple reason. I only own 2 shares of this stock. If I owned 10 of these I would take a wait and see attitude but since I don’t I won’t and as soon as my threshold is reached it is goodbye JP.

The second goner for me is Countrywide (CFC). This stock has been the worst performer for me so far and as a result has lost me the most money. I am just waiting for Bank of America (BAC) to buy Countrywide sometime in the July-September quarter and then I will get  about 3.5 shares of (BAC) and then when my threshold is reached I will sell, sell, sell my Bank of America shares.
