Weekly Investing Report 9/22/08

September 22nd, 2008 | No Comments | Filed in Investing

Last week started badly with a huge drop of about 500+ points if I remember correctly, then about 100+ points gain the next day followed by another huge drop. Thursday I honestly don’t know what happened because I sure didn’t want to know and on Friday another big gain. My account was up $33.04 and I am finally over the $2,000 dollar mark, just barely but up nonetheless. So it was a strange week to say the least now we have to wait and see what happens this week, should be interesting.

I have good news and bad news for you today. First the bad news, I have to write another 403-B report and with the way the market has been acting up it’s not going to be pretty. Now for the good news, next month there will be three 403-B reports because I get paid three times and that means some extra cash in my pockets which is always good. To Buy or Not To Buy

September 17th, 2008 | No Comments | Filed in Investing

That is the question that is on my mind at the moment. If you have been a reader of this blog since day one or two then you know that I just recently realized that volume is the way to make and lose moola fast. That is why my most recent stock buy was for 70 shares and volume sure works because I have both made and lost money but that is ok.

That is why I have been drooling with excitement just thinking about the one stock I want more shares of and that stock is Visa (V). The price as I write this post is $66.35 which isn’t too bad, I originally paid $60.3750 per share if you include the $7 dollars I paid for the trade. At the moment I own 8 shares of Visa and if I could get 42 more I would be a very, very happy dude. Problem is I don’t have the money to buy those shares but what if I could get the money.

I am sure that if I ask a friend of mine he would loan me the money. I could also use one of those checks that come with your monthly credit card statement but the high interest rate sure makes that option not that appealing. I do know that $3,000 would be enough for 42 shares if the price stays at or under $70 dollars but time is not on my side. Why is that you ask, because if I can get the money today I would have to deposit it, then transfer that money to my Scottrade account and then the latest I could buy would be the next day and who knows what the price will be by then. Is getting those shares and going into debt worth it?, there is only one way to find out and if I do it you’ll be reading about it here.

My Prediction

September 16th, 2008 | No Comments | Filed in Investing

Monday was a bad day for investors including me. The market was down more than 500 points. The bad news are enough to make some want to quit and forget about investing, I don’t share that view by the way. There is good news to go along with such a huge drop, and what is the good news you ask. Let me tell you, if you have some money laying around and if you look there might be some bargain stocks ready for the taking, I would do just that but I don’t have a penny to spare at the moment. Look around and if you see a stock that was too high before but now is just rightly priced for you then do what you have to.

And now for my bold out of this world prediction. I predict that since the market was down yesterday it will be up today, enough said.

Weekly Investing Report 9/15/08

Last week started on the downside but it ended up as you can see by the graph below and thanks to that my account was, drum roll please, up, hard to believe huh, $29.79 and I’ll take that. There were some bad news during the weekend about Lehman Brothers, it’s filling for chapter 11 bankruptcy so I have a bad feeling about the markets’ reaction to those news today. Hopefully things won’t be that bad, we’ll have to wait and see.
