Weekly Investing Report 10/6/08

October 6th, 2008 | No Comments | Filed in Investing

Another one of those weekly reports for your reading enjoyment and I know you enjoy them. The market continues with its temper tantrums and there is nothing we can do about it. Will the recently signed $700 billion bailout plan be enough to help the market make its’ mind, I sure don’t know. This I know, my account was down only $204.63 dollars last week just like that there went the previous week’s gains, yep just like that.

Scottrade Account (27)

I had one trade last week.

I also transferred $600 dollars into my account.

I bought 12 shares of Visa (V) on 9/30/08. This one in in the Financial sector.

My investments look like this now, 10 Ford (F) shares, 10 Marvel (MVL) shares, 10 International Coal (ICO) shares, 10 Star Bulk Carriers (SBLK) shares, 20 Visa (V) shares, 40 JPMorgan (JPM) shares, 40 Bank of America (BAC) shares and 70 National Bank of Greece (NBG) shares.

I start this week with a total account value of $5,405.07

403-B/DCP

October 3rd, 2008 | No Comments | Filed in 403b

Time for the first 403-B/DCP report of the month, it feels like it was decades ago since the last one. This crazy market has been doing wonders for my 403-B and I don’t mean that in a good way. That is all right, I am used to it by now so now when there is a big drop it’s no surprise. The next day when there is a big gain to make up for that previous day’s drop, it’s no longer a surprise. The market was down yesterday so I am guessing that it will be up today but then again what do I know?. Time to check them numbers.

403-B
Started $1,240.72
My Contribution $    50.00
Down $    69.80
Balance $1,220.92 Rate of return -33.9%

My Contribution $  17.58
Down $  55.80
Balance $560.96 Rate of return -28.4%

Total $1,781.88

Surprise, Surprise

October 1st, 2008 | No Comments | Filed in Investing

After a humongous drop the previous day we have a big rally the following day. I don’t know about you but I am getting used to it. In fact a humongous drop one day equals buy something to be ready for the big rally the next day and make some money along the way. Following my own advice that is what I did, I saw that Visa (V) was lower than when I first purchased it back in March so I made a $600 dollar transfer to my Scottrade account and bought 12 more Visa (V) shares and now I own 20. Today is another day and I just hope that it’s another good one.
