Weekly Investing Report 3/30/09

March 30th, 2009 | No Comments | Filed in Investing

It’s Monday and I should be happy that another investing week is here but I am not. I am actually pretty disappointed with myself and still can’t get over the stupid trades I made last Friday. Water under the bridge Edwin, water under the bridge. Anyway, my account was down $385.08 for the week and I was a bit surprised because I expected to make money but that obviously didn’t happen. I am going to have to wait and see what this week brings my way.

I had three trades last week and two of them were very stupid trades.

My investments, 50 Dow Chemical Co (DOW) shares, 100 Allied Irish Banks PLC (AIB) shares, 400 Citigroup (C) shares, 500 Fannie Mae (FNM) shares and 1500 American International Group Inc (AIG) shares.

Stupid Trades

March 27th, 2009 | No Comments | Filed in Investing

I didn’t work today so I decided to keep my eye on the market. Well, I made one stupid trade, ok two, this just happened less than an hour ago, it’s 7:16 am here in Los Angeles. Here is the scoop, I saw that the price for my (AIG) shares was going down and when it got to $1.01 I got spooked and sold all of them. I then got greedy and decided to wait for it to go lower and buy more shares, makes sense right?. Then I just waited, and waited, and waited but the price just wouldn’t go below $1 dollar so I then decided to buy back the 1500 shares I had just sold. It was only after I’d bought back my shares that the price started to go down below $1 dollar, I have learned my lesson and I am sure that I am not going to make the same mistake again, I hope. Like I said, two stupid trades that shouldn’t have happened.

Got My Tax Refund

March 26th, 2009 | No Comments | Filed in Taxes

I got my tax refund last Friday and I couldn’t be any happier, fine, I would be even happier if it had been more, a lot more but it wasn’t so I’ll take what I got. I was surprised when I received my state refund as well, I was expecting an IOU from them but that was not the case. I went to the bank and deposited $800 into my account, gave $250 to my mom, $100 to my sister and I kept $93 for myself. I am not going to touch the money in my account for a while things being the way they are at the moment.

403-B/DCP

What a difference a rally makes, not long ago it seemed like every dollar I was putting into my 403-B/DCP was being lost but since this is a long term investment I never panicked because I knew that sooner or later things would get better. I finally reached the $2000 dollar mark and that was very exciting for me, I came close once before but then everything went south fast. Lets hope that the turn around has started and that would indeed be good news for everybody.
