My Credit Score

March 18th, 2009 | No Comments | Filed in Personal Debt

I finally  found out what my credit score was and boy was I surprised. If you have been reading this blog since the beginning then you know that one of my dreams is to be my own boss one day and I am working on it, believe me. Anyway, real estate has taken a real beating and prices are down as we all know and you can find some real bargains if you look hard enough. So my partner (my sis ok) and I went to see a loan officer to see how much of a loan we could qualify for and that is when I found out my score. To make a long story short my score was over 800 at each of the three credit bureaus and there I was expecting to be around 750 but that was not the case.

2008 Taxes

March 13th, 2009 | No Comments | Filed in Taxes

I finally got my taxes done last Saturday and now all I have to do is sit back and wait for my refunds to arrive. My federal refund will be $1,102 and my state refund, if I ever get it considering the sad shape California is in, will be $141 for a grand total of $1,243 which isn’t that bad. As soon as I get it I am going to deposit it in the bank so it can work hard for me earning interest. I did not claim my 2008 stock losses this time around but hopefully I will next year when I can use those losses to offset my gains.

World’s Richest Men 2009 Edition

March 12th, 2009 | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized

It’s that time of the year when we find out who the World’s richest man is. Last year Warren Buffet was on top but how things can change in one bad year. Here’s the top five for your reading enjoyment, you can check the full list at Forbes.com.

  1. Bill Gates retakes first place with a net worth of $40 billion dollars. That is $18 billion down from last year.
  2. Warren Buffet takes second place with $37 billion dollars. That is $25 billion down from last year.
  3. Carlos Slim Helu takes third place with $35 billion dollars. That is $25 billion down from last year.
  4. Lawrence Ellison takes the fourth spot with $22.5 billion dollars which isn’t that bad if you ask me.
  5. Ingvar Kamprad founder of Ikea takes the fifth spot with only $22 billion dollars.

I was going to make the list again this year but somehow those reporters didn’t get to me in time for the story, go figure. It seems that most everybody lost money last year, even billionaires.

Got Them

March 11th, 2009 | No Comments | Filed in Business

I finally got somewhat serious about my business so I went and got six domain names. I didn’t get some domains that I was really looking for because they were taken but the two main ones that I did want were available, total came out to $41.94 that in my eyes were well spent. It feels good to finally do something even if it’s only a small step like I said last week. Time waits for no one so I better get moving because if next year comes around and I am on the same boat that I am in right now I am going to be really pissed at myself.
