Edwin 20 Bank of America 0

June 4th, 2010 | No Comments | Filed in Personal Debt

Last week I wrote about the $39 dollar late payment fee that Bank of America charged me, for according to them, being late on a payment. At around the same time I received new credit cards so I had to call and activate them, update accounts and this and that and that was a lot of work, ok, it wasn’t, took me about 10 minutes to do it. Anyway, after I activated my Bank of America card I received a call asking me about my supposedly late payment fee. I then said to the nice lady that I was going to call them about it and explained that the payment for April the 30th was for my payment due on May 2nd which happened to be a Sunday which was the reason why I had scheduled the payment early because if I had paid on May 3rd I would have been late. To make a long story short I didn’t have to pay that late payment fee, heck yeah!!.

Say What?!

So I logged into my Bank of America account to schedule my monthly payments which happen to be on the 2nd and 6th of each month. So there I was checking my accounts and then I see that I had a late payment fee of $39 dollars for a payment due on the second.

True, I had a payment due on the second but if you check your calendar the way I checked mine you will see that the 2nd was a Sunday. So I did what every normal and responsible person would do, I scheduled my payment for April the 30th because if I had scheduled it for the 3rd I would have been late, makes sense right.

So I have to call Bank of America and see what is up with that fee. I do have a theory as to what might have happened, I think that they assumed that that April 30th payment was another payment for that month when in reality it was for May 2nd, stay tuned.

Survival Mode

March 5th, 2010 | No Comments | Filed in Personal Debt

It’s official, I am in survival mode. What does that mean you ask, well, that means spending as little as possible until further notice. I have only work three days so far this year, I used up all of my sick time and since I can’t go back to work yet I was placed on leave without pay and that means that I have no income whatsoever coming in. Life sure sucks when you are sick or injured like I am. Anyway, I will let you know what happens as soon as I can.

Sounds Like A Plan

My personal debt has skyrocketed a bit recently. I am paying it off as best I can as you all know but to me personally it seems like it never goes down. The other day I received an offer from Discover Personal Loans, I do have a Discover card after all. That got me thinking, I can get a small loan and pay off my debt once and for all and then just pay off the loan.

In the long run we all know that we end up paying more than we borrowed but I could pay more than the minimum, like I always do, and finish paying the loan before the 36, 48 or 60 months are up. Sure I would pay some interest, lets face it, nobody will lend you money out of the kindness of their hearts, but not as much as I am paying right now on my two credit cards, stay tuned.

Effective Immediately!!

Effective immediately credit cards are off limits until further notice. The only exceptions are as follows, when I buy Modern Warfare 2 in November since I already reserved it, when I go to the dentist, I know, I know, when I fill up the car on Fridays and in case of an emergency, buying fast food is not considered an emergency. I want to concentrate on paying my debt as much as I can before the year is over and not using my credit cards will be a great start.
