Edwin 10 Bank of America 0

September 30th, 2009 | No Comments | Filed in Personal Debt

I was checking my Bank of America account at about 3pm yesterday when I realized that I had not scheduled my monthly credit card payment, too much going on in my head at the moment. It was due yesterday and if you don’t want to incur any late fees and want the payment to be posted the same day you have to do it before 5pm ET so I knew that I was too late for that. So I did the next best thing and scheduled it for today, the 30th and I knew that I was going to have that late payment fee and was kicking myself for it.

Then I went to the bank to cash my check, lucky me there was no line. I get to the window, made a deposit, got some cash back and then I asked the cashier if I could make a credit card payment to which he replied that indeed I could. So he pulled up my account and said to me, “it’s due today huh” and all I could do was smile because I made the payment in cash and I am pretty sure that I am not going to have a late payment fee. As soon as I could I got online and canceled the automatic payment I had scheduled for today.

Ha!!, so there Bank of America.

Some Debt Help

September 24th, 2009 | No Comments | Filed in Personal Debt

As you know I have been dealing with my debt as best as I can and thankfully I am getting some help this September. No, I don’t mean a government bailout and I sure didn’t win the lottery either although that would be very nice indeed but I am not that lucky.

Anyway, the help I am getting comes from the three paychecks I get this month, this happens twice a year. I get number 3 next week and that should help me for now. I am going to put $300 dollars into my checking account which doubles the amount that I put in that account monthly and the rest I am going to save because I have some expected expenditures coming up which will only make my debt grow and having something extra to tame the beast always helps.

My Debt Paying Plan

June 10th, 2009 | No Comments | Filed in Personal Debt

Not long ago I wrote a post about my growing debt and how it just keeps growing and growing and growing. I think that I can officially say that it’s out of control and I am doing everything that I can possibly do to tame the beast and I will, believe me when I say that. Anyway, I have a new plan to pay my debt as fast as I can and even though I will take a hit on how much I save monthly it has to be done. I save $50 dollars from every paycheck each month, I put that money away and every six months that goes to the bank.

Here is my new Debt Paying Plan, starting immediately all the money that I save from May to August will go directly to my checking account to help pay my debt. So now instead of having $200 dollars a month to make monthly debt payments I will have $300 and that is $1200 dollars over the next four months which will help a lot. If everything goes according to plan I should be out of debt by December.

I forgot to mention that I am going to be visiting the dentist soon and the amount that I am going to have to pay will be about $700 dollars if I remember correctly. I will have to put that on my card and as you can see that would push my debt free date to sometime in the first quarter of 2010, yep.

No 5% Bonus For Me!!

May 28th, 2009 | No Comments | Filed in Personal Debt

In yesterday’s post I wrote about my current debt and about a recent buy that I made this past weekend. I am very happy with what I bought but a few days later I have to admit that I was kicking myself just for being my complacent self. You see, I was checking the Discover site checking my balance and when I was done with that I clicked on the Shop Discover tab and lo and behold if I had used one of the retailers listed I would have earned a nice 5% cash back bonus for buying the exact same thing. I used another retailer and although I earned points, I used my American Express, cash back would have been a lot better the way things are right now. I am over it now because lets face it, it’s over and done with so I am moving on knowing full well that next time I have to buy something I am going to shop around.

How Much?

May 27th, 2009 | No Comments | Filed in Personal Debt

My personal debt stands at about $1,055.00 dollars as I write this and I don’t like it one bit. Every month I deposit $200 dollars into my checking account to pay off my bills but that it’s not making a dent on my debt at all. After having an extra paycheck in April I decided to have my very own stimulus package, I quickly deposited some of that check and paid a big chunk of my debt and at the beginning of this month my debt was less than $400 dollars. My usual bills came due and then a I bought something this past weekend, you’ll know what I bought and the reason why I bought it on my other blog this coming Friday and you will also know why I am kicking myself now in a coming post here as well, and that pushed it past the thousand dollar mark. Now it’s pretty obvious that I have to do a bit more if I want to pay it off fast, I could just pay it all off with my savings but I am not going to because that money is for emergencies only. I then put my brain to work on a new plan and I think that I finally found one, I will tell you more about it in a future post but in the meantime let me go and enjoy my debt.
