$402

January 29th, 2010 | No Comments | Filed in Savings

I finally went to the bank to cash my last three paychecks because I had been too lazy to do it before. Two of them were from December and one from this January. I come back home and then do my thing allocating money for this that and the other and when I am finished with that I am left with $402 dollars.

I know that the money left is from the second half of December when I was on Christmas break and didn’t spend that much on anything and from this year when I have been out of work sick for most of the month and again have not spent that much either so I knew that I would have some money left just not how much.

The question then became, what to do with it. Buy new shoes, a new computer, a new phone, a new leg or a bionic disc if that is indeed what is ailing me. After thinking about it not that long or hard I decided to put 75% of that in the bank and 25% will go to help pay for my debt, there problem solved.

$162.02

It’s that time of the year when I check how much money I have saved for the last six months of 2009. Well, I didn’t save anything from my checks because all that money went to my checking account to help pay down my debt which is a bit high and with my trip to the dentist this past Tuesday it just got a bit high-er which I don’t like.

So no money saved from my paychecks meant that the only place left where I could find some money was going to be my Coin Counting Jar and once again it came through. I managed to save $162.02 for the last six months of 2009 and just for the record those $162.02 weighed 12 pounds. I had a contest so see who could guess the correct amount in the CCJ and this time my brother won. Bought some food on Saturday and that left me with about $100 which will be used to help pay down my debt, so sad.

$500

Here we are in July so it’s time for my Savings Report, yes I am a saver. If you are a regular reader then you know that I save $50 big ones out of every paycheck. For the first six months of 2009 I managed to save $500 dollars, in reality it’s $700 dollars but I am going to put aside $200 to take Sunshine to the doctor. If I had not given up the months of May and June, I will give up July and June for the same reason, in order to help pay down my debt the amount saved would be $900 dollars.

Anyway, here is the breakdown, $400 dollars saved from the months of January through April, $300 from my extra paycheck and that is $700 minus the $200 I mentioned above for a grand total of $500 dollars, it’s not that much but every penny counts nowadays. That money is going straight to my savings account and staying there until further notice. Speaking of savings, there is a new category with just that name for exactly this kind of posts, yep.

$80.53

The first six months of the year are history and that can only mean that it’s time for my Coin Counting Jar Report, yes Virginia there is such a thing. When I buy something with cash I take any change I get and put it in the now famous Coin Counting Jar, doing just that I managed to save $80.53 for the first six months of 2009. That is an average of $13.42 a month and $0.45 cents a day which isn’t that bad. I am going to wait for the end of the year so I can change all those coins into greenbacks and maybe help pay my growing debt.
