2009 Taxes

April 14th, 2010 | No Comments | Filed in Taxes

I finally got off my butt and did my taxes. At first I didn’t know if I was going to do them myself or go somewhere new to have them done. After thinking about it for a long time and before the 15th came my way I decided to go where I went last year and so I did. Since I had sold stocks last year and had some profits I had to put them on this years taxes and it showed. My federal refund will be $869 and my state refund $68 for a grand total of $937 dollars and not a single cent. As soon as I receive my checks I will have plenty of use for them paying bills, bills and more bills.

$1,481.39

If you have been a follower of this blog then you know that my first year investing I lost over 2 thousand dollars but when it came tax time I didn’t deduct any of it because I knew that I could use those losses to offset future gains that I would hope would come in ‘09. Well, last year I made money, $1,481.39 to be exact and this time that is going to have to be on my taxes because Uncle Sam no doubt will want a piece of my small pie and that is fine. Now, I am not really sure if I can use the exact amount and that is why I can’t wait to go see my tax preparer this year, stay tuned.

Tax Time

January 15th, 2010 | No Comments | Filed in Taxes

Hard to believe that tax season is here again, seems like just yesterday I was doing my ‘08 taxes. This year I have to include the sale from some of my stocks, yes I actually made some money in ‘09 and that is always good news. I don’t know if I am going back to the same place where I filed last year, a new place or if I am going to do it myself with the help of tax software. I sure can’t wait to see if I am going to end up getting something back or paying a lot back, stay tuned.

Just a friendly reminder, If you haven’t filed your taxes yet you better do it today but if for some reason you can’t you can apply for an extension, check the IRS website for more info or ask your tax guy or girl. I did my taxes a while back and already received my refunds. Anyway, you have been warned so get to it as fast as you can before the day’s over.

Got My Tax Refund

March 26th, 2009 | No Comments | Filed in Taxes

I got my tax refund last Friday and I couldn’t be any happier, fine, I would be even happier if it had been more, a lot more but it wasn’t so I’ll take what I got. I was surprised when I received my state refund as well, I was expecting an IOU from them but that was not the case. I went to the bank and deposited $800 into my account, gave $250 to my mom, $100 to my sister and I kept $93 for myself. I am not going to touch the money in my account for a while things being the way they are at the moment.
