Keepers
May 28th, 2008 | Filed under Investing.Ever since I started investing I knew that there were going to be some good stocks and some not so good ones. Today I am going to tell you about the ones I think are keepers. I own shares in five different companies and so far for me there are only two that deserve to be on this post.
The number one keeper is Visa (V), the main reason I started to invest. I wanted to get some Visa shares when the IPO was first announced and because of that I had to open a brokerage account and as you know I did. I got 8 shares of Visa on 3/19/08 for $59.50 each, the current price as I write this is $78.74 which is excellent.
The second keeper is Marvel Entertainment (MVL). When I became aware that Marvel was planning to finance its own movies I knew I wanted to get some marvel shares. Iron Man is a hit and now we have to wait and see how The Incredible Hulk movie will fare next month. I got 10 shares of marvel on 4/17/08 for $28.00 each, the current price per share as I write this is $33.65 which is good.
I think the number one reason why these two are keepers is obvious. Of my other three there are two that have performed badly and one that is just above water but just barely. At some point I am going to have to decide what to do with them and when I reached that point I will let you know.
